HIGHLAND — The Normal Community High School basketball team remained unbeaten Saturday after Tyler Seibring and Alex Peacock combined for 45 points and 19 rebounds in a 70-62 victory over East St. Louis in the Highland Shootout.
"We had a great experience at the Highland Shootout," said NCHS coach Dave Witzig, whose team is ranked No. 6 in Class 4A. "It was a great opportunity to play in a different atmosphere against a great Metro East team."
Seibring finished with 23 points and 10 boards while Peacock added 22 and nine, making all 10 of his free throws. His putback basket to start a 3-point play helped the Ironmen (13-0) seize control in the back-and-forth contest.
Marquise Chairs led East St. Louis with 17. Tyrone Riley added 12 and Karon Randolph followed with 10.
A day after a 54-47 win over Peoria Manual, NCHS took a 34-24 lead into intermission and still led by seven heading into the fourth.
"David Boyd did a great job getting us into our offense against their ball pressure," said Witzig. "They have a lot of solid athletes and we did an excellent job and had a good weekend."
