Living With A Tumor, And With God

From the dad of our former basketball student team manager Grant Johnson, living with tumors in his spine:

"Good evening. I hope everyone had a good Friday. Grant sure did.

They are getting him out of bed and walking a bit, and sitting in a chair. When we did this at 9:00 am, he begged me to get out of the chair and go back to bed. No dice. He had to sit up for an hour. His walking was the shuffling of a little old man, but it was the first walking he'd done it a full week. By this afternoon, he'd been disconnected from all pain relief, all sensors and IVs, and was sitting up playing his 3DS and had no idea how long he'd been in the chair. It is incredible to watch him hour by hour.

Yesterday he wanted me to kill him, he was in so much pain. Today, he played his video game for hours, and turned down Valium. I can't believe it.

Moving still hurts. Badly. We're not done with this. But he has improved tremendously from yesterday. It is stunning to witness. He's still up, playing his 3DS in the dark. Why not? What's the point of making him go to bed? He's IN bed. He's been in bed for a week. He can play until he falls asleep, and wake up whenever he wants. He is making great strides by the hour.

Thank you all for caring. The boy is on the mend. Big time. More to come.

MJ

God is good, boys.  God is good."
