"Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves." - Dale Carnegie
One of my students had a day off. For him it was the fourth day of a four-day weekend.
How did he choose to spend it? Visiting with me at the library.
He didn't even have any homework to discuss. He just... wanted to talk.
For an hour we talked about zombies, video games, fishing, sports. Everything but math.
What teenager chooses to spend his last day off - after a full morning of fishing - to talk with an adult?
Hopefully, one who feels that adult is making a difference in his life.
