Hairspray Diary: Friday, May 4

dear diary,

my hairspray family is soooo awesome.

yesterday we were doing our second time thru the entire show.

the orchestra joined us for the first time, omg they are hella sweet!!!

but anyway yesterday jennifer cirillo had told the cast that her and ricardo chatmon had the same birthday, may 20. we have a show that day so she said that they were goin to tgifriday after to celebrate and hopefully people cud come. she didnt know it was my birthday too, so weird but yeah three birthdays on one day no lie!!!

so before rehearsal last night i told her, cuz i dont know it wud just have been something i thought she'd like to know instead of finding out by accident. she gets super excited and gives me a big hug, and calls ricardo over and we all hi five. after rehearsal she announces that its my bday too and people clapped. feelin the love.

our director alan wilson was real happy about how the show looked, we did too. i mean kelly slater is the cutest tracy turnblad and shes memorized about a million lines how DOES she do it??? and wendi fleming twisted her ankle but still tuffed it out and she can hold a note forever and is velma von tussle so everyone hates her in the show but luvs her in real life.

jeremy pease is link larkin and got a new prop a guitar today for his 'it takes two' slow song, its a ballad with tracy and he rocked out and the dancers behind him were amazing. and he and tracy are practicing kisses now, oh yeah.

when people see mark robinson do wilbur turnblad and scott myers do edna turnblad they will pee their pants they are just sooooo funny and talented during their duet scene. they are school principals too. i hope all their kids come to see!!!

the scene called 'run and tell that' is like the hottest one of all so far. gerald price is seaweed stubbs and he's like a pro or something, so amazing voice and moves. but its not just him like the whole scene, all those council members whoo!! they get their groove goin on and you cant sit still no way.

after the show the orchestra played the full music score that we'll hear during the bows and we were all sitting in the seats dancing and screaming the songs and when they were done we gave them a standing ovation like theyd just saved the earth from a comet.

got to write more later.

Joe-I only have a million things to do but I had to stop and write a comment. You are also awesome as our Corny and I am so glad to have come to know you through Hairspray. Your blog is so cool. You are multifaceted. Keep the blog going. And of course we need to celebrate your birthday, too!
