Reclaiming My Voice: It's Not Easy Being Green

I'm beginning to think that Kermit the Frog could've added a whole new verse to his old Muppets tune.

And green's the color of phlegm,
That likes to linger right where you'd sing,
Like a mountain, or pyramid, so thick and so tall,
A wonder that any notes come out at all...

Today it's time to go nuclear on this week-long throat thing.

No sugar or caffeine.
Decongestant pills as frequently as the directions allow.
Vitamin C pills.
Orange juice and apples.
Gargling salt water.
Tea.
A glass of water an hour.
Hot shower pounding the chest to loosen whatever's inside.
Kleenex like it's the last day on earth.
Minimal singing or talking.
Deep diaphragm breathing to flush out, um, "deposits."

Whatever God wants, God gets, but I am interpreting this as a Job-caliber test of my resolve. The victory will be in the trying!
