1:00 p.m. Arrived at Chicago's Union Station. It's got electronic arrival and departure boards just like airports, as well as a food court and newspaper stand. We'd originally planned to walk around the loop, but when we decided not to check our bags we locked ourselves into the terminal. What it lacks is security. I never once got screened. I suppose that's because of the inherent difficulty in hijacking a train. "Turn this thing towards Washington! What? Oh... damn..."
