- August record was 16-14.
- One more win will guarantee avoiding a 100 loss season.
- They are 1/2 game behind the White Sox for best team in Chicago.
- They are 4 1/2 games behind the Reds to escape last place in the Central.
- Magic number to escape the worst record in baseball: 18.
- They have in their lineup two All-Stars (Rizzo, Castro) and three high-grade prospects (Alcantara, Baez, Soler). Next spring will add Kris Bryant. Addison Russell is trailing behind, as well as Kyle Schwarber.
Whether this team will make enough contact or pitch enough outs to win a championship remains to be seen, but these are exciting times on the North Side.
