A Tough Day, A Lucky Day

Settling into the basketball season routine has its usual stretch of entry turbulence.

Work, basketball, tutoring... hope at 9 p.m. Getting the body used to regular 12 hour days makes a man worn, hungry and (for some) a little crabby.

But.

My job is not nearly as hard as the many who are toiling under harsh, unfair or outdoor conditions.

The players are doing all of the running in the practices. Then they go home to homework.

The tutoring students have it much rougher than I do while tutoring. Many of them arise earlier than me. Some are single parents. Some have jobs too. And unlike me, they struggle with math.

The waves of my life are just ripples, really.
