Flight

Okay, I went to see this because of my disaster movie gene and the awesome preview clips of Denzel Washington doing a sickly sweet barrel roll of a commercial airliner to save 100 lives.

I knew there was something about his addiction to alcohol in there.

Turns out that was three-quarters of the movie.

Fair enough... two and a half hours seemed long going in... and it felt about that long... but the story was compelling enough to keep it mostly from being dull.

What made it good was that if you are dealing with any form of compulsion, whether drugs or food or video games or anger or whatever, you could put yourself in the man's place. When you live in a country as resourceful as America, these are the types of hardships that can often fill the darker side of the day instead of persecution or starvation.

I won't watch it again, but I'd endorse it for those self-improvement types, or those who just like to see a man go through the ditches and end up with those he loves.
