Dear Thad: What You've Been Missing

Hi Thad, how's it going?

Haven't heard from you in a while, but that's because you may not be in on the text conversation about Dad's post-surgery recovery. So here are the highlights:

Texts #1 through #217:

We are all arriving at the hospital. Dad is in pain. The doctor is taking a long time to show up.

Texts #218 through #572:

Dad is recovering from surgery today but is in too much pain/weakness to do much of anything. At least his crazy roommate Edwin is gone and he was moved to a new room so there is no chance of future Edwins.

#573 through #1,130:

All the siblings are rotating through the hospital. Helping Dad pass the hours away by visiting. And helping him get up. And to walk laps around the hall. And to try (and mostly fail) to eat. And try (and mostly fail) to perform basic bodily functions which are best described on an empty stomach, but are often described during mealtime hours. Things get better, things get worse, gallons of stuff come out of the wrong holes as we keep waiting for the right one. Kurt's car gets a flat tire. Troy sews stuff. ICC wins a volleyball tournament. Kelsey passes a certification test.

#1,131 through #1,135:

Love you all!

Thad, in this day and age what are the odds of having a family of seven happily married children out of seven, and no divorces? Pretty good odds, with love like this. We're lucky aren't we. See you at Thanksgiving...

Joe

Yes, we are all very fortunate to be a part of such an amazingly close and supportive family. I can't imagine life without my brothers and sisters!
